Summary Saturday

I’m going to start a weekly wrap-up of some great articles that I come across, hence the clever “Summary Saturday” slogan…The information will include a range of topics, but it will all be fitness related.

A few good things this week…

A great post from Michael Boyle on how running is a poor choice for most people, and using it as a tool to “get fit” may possibly lead you to injury.  You Can’t Run to Get Fit, You Need to Be Fit to Run.

For those of you still on the “I don’t eat egg yolks” bandwagon, here’s an interesting article worth a read. Do Egg Yolks Cause Heart Disease? I always crack up when someone throws the yolk away at breakfast and proceeds to tell me that a bland egg-white omelette is the way to go…

An interesting article on how core stabilization exercises can benefit soldiers during their APFT sit-up test.  Sit-Ups Versus Core Strengthening

Lastly, a great post by Lyle McDonald on Split Squats.  He goes over a few basic techniques and some common errors that may be plaguing you during the exercise.  Split Squat Technique

Video of the Week: A compilation of the worst deadlifts ever…ugh.  You can’t help but laugh a little.  I can hear chiropractors cheering on future patients…
